Israel’s Murderous Attacks on Gaza

 Israel is again conducting bloody attacks on Gaza. Interminable rounds of shelling by Israeli terrorists – known as Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) – have left in their wake infant corpses and blood-stained rubble of residential buildings. Every attempt is being made to decapitate the present and disembowel any hope for a better future. The current massacre campaigns by the Zionist state have followed the well-established pattern of colonial aggressions, characterized by an unconscionable logic of inhumanity.

1) Israeli state & Zionist settlers tried to illegally displace Palestinians from Sheikh Jarrah. 2) Palestinians resisted. 3) Israeli troops brutally cracked down on Palestinians, storming one of the holiest sites, Al-Aqsa Mosque, on one of the holiest nights, Laylat-al Qadr, of the holiest month, Ramadan, in one of the holiest cities, Jerusalem, while Muslims prayed peacefully. Israeli raids continued for two days, injuring hundreds. 4) Palestinians fired rockets in retaliation. 5) Israel ruthlessly bombed Gaza, killing 24 Palestinians, including 9 children, and wounding more than 100 others.

Hypocritical Response

The US – instead of denouncing the child-murdering bombing of Gaza- hypocritically decried the rockets fired by Palestine on Israel, saying it recognizes Israel’s right to defend itself. Speaking at his daily press briefing, US State of Department spokesperson Ned Price glibly said: "Let me start by saying that the United States condemns in the strongest terms the barrage of rocket attacks fired into Israel in recent hours. This is an unacceptable escalation." "While we urge de-escalation on all sides, we also recognize Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself and to defend its people and its territory."

This is pure doublespeak, modeled after US President Joe Biden’s statement that "Israelis wake up every morning facing an existential threat. That’s why we always have to be adamant that Israel must be able to defend itself." Price well knows that the situation in Palestine can’t be "de-escalated" as long as Israel vilely uses the principle of "self-defense" to rent the Gazan air with cries of agony.

While USA was engaged in verbal skullduggery, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi said all IDF units must prepare for a wider campaign of an "indefinite" duration. He ordered that attacks continue on Hamas facilities for weapons manufacturing and storage – and for the onslaught to be expanded to additional targets. In other words, bloodbath on a larger scale.

Inversion

The bombing of Gaza can continue because powerful countries like USA shamelessly invert the roles of Israelis and Palestinians: the Israeli aggressor once again becomes the persecuted victim, as per the Exodus story, while the Palestinians, strangled, wounded and immobilized in the open air prison that is Gaza, enclosed within electrified walls and fences, are transformed into terrorists, relentlessly and heartlessly persecuting the innocent Israeli victims. This inversion has real effects: it serves to reinforce the image of the Palestinian as enemy, as sub-human, an entity not entitled to any dignity.

When the inversion schema is formalized, we are presented with the concept of Israel’s "right to self-defense". The issue is framed as Hamas shooting rockets into Israel and Israel retaliating to defend itself. Here, the context – Israel’s murderous occupation of and continuing war crimes against the Palestinian people – disappears into thin air. It is also forgotten that the resistance of democratically elected Hamas to Gaza’s illegal occupation is just and according to international law.

The “lucky” 2 million Palestinian Israelis can vote but exist as Third Class citizens in their own land under over 60 Nazi-style, race-based laws and under explicitly stated threats to suffer Rohingya-style mass expulsion as happened in 1948 (800,000 Palestinians expelled) and 1967 (400,000 Arabs expelled from the West Bank and Israeli-occupied Syria)....

Israel has never had any intention of honouring either the 1947 Partition Plan or 1967 borders

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to annex parts of the occupied West Bank if re-elected in last month’s General Election, eliciting outrage from world leaders. However, that “promise” to usurp not just the West Bank, but all of Palestine, is century-old news, an ongoing promise being kept, and no international outrage has ever really mattered in any case.

….. The Zionist movement never had any intention of honouring any agreement that “gave” it less than all of Palestine. Mainstream leaders like the “moderate” Chaim Weizmann and iconic David Ben-Gurion feigned acceptance of partition because it handed them a weapon powerful enough to defeat partition: statehood.

…. The public lie remained safeguarded; British Colonel Richard Meinertzhagen assured Weizmann that the true plan is “still withheld from the general public”. Nor was the public informed when the USA’s King-Crane Commission went to the region that year and discovered for themselves that “the Zionists looked forward to a practically complete dispossession of the present non-Jewish inhabitants of Palestine.” The Commission Report was buried.

… When Ben-Gurion, Weizmann and others met in London in 1941 to discuss future plans, the cynical disconnect was chilling. Would “Arabs” have equal rights in the “Jewish state”? Of course, but only after there were none left. Would partition be acceptable? Certainly, if the line were the River Jordan (meaning 100 per cent of Palestine for Israel), expandable into the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan itself. One attendee challenged the Zionists; the industrialist Robert Waley Cohen accused them of following Nazi ideology.

…. By the end of 1948 Israel had stolen more than half of the land it had “agreed” to leave for the Palestinians, and refused to budge. This was the origin of the misnomer “1967 borders”; in truth they are the ceasefire line. Partition was a charade, and Palestinian negotiators were right to dismiss it, but their honesty was, from the Machiavellian standpoint, a tactical blunder which the Zionists were counting on. In short, Israel has never had any intention of honouring either the 1947 Partition Plan or the 1967 borders. So-called Greater Israel across all of historic Palestine and beyond has always been Zionism’s objective.

The solution to Israel’s siege on Gaza is decolonisation

…… Israel, in alliance with the Egyptian military dictatorship, has kept Gaza under full military siege for 12 years.

Almost 2 million people, mostly refugees, are kept caged there. They are not allowed to return to the homes from which they were expelled by the Zionist militias and later by Israel between 1947 and 1949 – purely and simply because they are not Jewish.

Any attempt by Palestinians to escape these prison walls and return to their ancestral homes is met by Israeli snipers, who gun down even children.

Non-violent resistance or violent resistance, it does not matter – the summary death penalty enacted by the Israeli army is the same. What Israel wants is for Palestinians to disappear from the face of the earth.

.....The cause of Palestine is not a humanitarian issue alone. It is not a “conflict” between two “sides” which needs to be “resolved” by a “settlement”. It’s a massive historical injustice, in which the UK government played a primary role, and which has never ended.

Im Jahr 2010 warnte  der damalige israelische Verteidigungsminister Ehud Barak ausdrücklich davor, Israel würde sich zu einem permanenten „Apartheidsstaat“ entwickeln, wenn es misslingt, ein Friedensabkommen mit den Palästinensern zu schließen, das ihren eigenen souveränen Staat erschaffen und sie mit vollen politischen Rechten ausstatten würde. „Solange es im Gebiet westlich des Jordanflusses nur ein politisches Gebilde mit Namen Israel gibt, wird es entweder nicht jüdisch oder nicht demokratisch sein“, sagte Barak. „Wenn dieser Block von Millionen von Palästinensern nicht zur Wahl darf, wird dieses Gebilde ein Apartheidstaat sein.“

Ehrliche Beobachter auf beiden Seiten des Konflikts haben schon vor Langem eingeräumt, dass die Aussichten auf eine Zweistaatenlösung praktisch nicht mehr existieren: eine andere Art zu sagen, dass Israels Status als ständiges Apartheidsregime unausweichlich ist. Tatsächlich haben US-Geheimdienste bereits vor 45 Jahren ausdrücklich davor gewarnt, dass die israelische Besatzung permanent werden würde, sollte sie nicht schnellstmöglich beendet werden.

 …… Wie in meinem 2012 gewählten Buchtitel „Das elfte Gebot – Israel darf alles“. Konnte es in den Jahren 2012 bis 2018 eigentlich noch eine Steigerung geben? Tatsächlich, es gab und es gibt sie. Gerade das Jahr, das so bombastische und unerträgliche „runde Festtage“ feierte, wie die Erinnerung an 70 Jahre Gründung des „Jüdischen Staates“, aufgebaut auf der Vertreibung von hunderttausenden von Palästinensern aus ihrer Heimat Palästina.....

…. 2018 gab es eine Rekordzahl an palästinensischen Todesfällen (Morden!) und Verletzten. Es wurden etwa 295 Palästinenser ermordet und über 29.000 von den „moralischsten“ aller „Verteidigungssoldaten“ verletzt...….

…. Das Netanjahu-Regime schafft es immer wieder unter dem Verweis auf „Sicherheit für das jüdische Volk“, die völkerrechtswidrige Besatzung und die Land-, See- und Luftblockade fortzusetzen, und behandelt die Palästinenser wie Geiseln und Gefangene im eigenen Land und lässt sie nur in Ausnahmefällen ausreisen. So gab es 35 Prozent weniger Ausreisegenehmigungen als schon im restriktiven Jahr 2017.....

Europas Rechtspopulisten, nicht bekannt für ihre Liebe zu Juden, pilgern in Scharen nach Israel. Warum schauen Israels Nationalisten so generös über das grauenvolle antisemitische Erbe hinweg, das die Rechte Europas mit sich trägt?

Europas Populisten lieben Israel in erster Linie, weil nirgendwo wie hier die Politik jener völkisch, religiös und national geprägten «Identität» gepflegt wird, an der sich die Rechten seelisch aufrichten, wenn sie sich wieder einmal von Fremden überrannt sehen. Sagenhaft, diese Israeli. Die wissen noch, was Vaterland ist und Patriotismus. Sogar, wer Jude ist und wer nicht, wissen sie genau. Europas Rechte muss vor Neid verblassen: Die Sache mit der Reinheit des Bluts ist am Verdämmern, man hat’s schwer in einer Zeit, in der gute Schweizer Xherdan Shaqiri heissen.

Die Juden aber verteidigen sich und ihre Kultur so angenehm zackig und ohne jede Scheu vor klarer Sprache und erzürnten Brüsseler Bürokraten. Das «Ethnische»: Hier hat es noch Geltung. Das neue «Nationalstaatsgesetz» gönnt einzig den Juden das «Recht auf nationale Selbstbestimmung», die Minderheiten sind per definitionem Bürger zweiter Klasse. Palestinian self-home demolitions: 'A new level of depravity'

Facing fines and jail time, East Jerusalem brothers see no other option than to demolish their homes themselves.

……. After exhausting all legal options in June, when the Israeli court ruled that additional floor must be demolished before December 10, Murad and Johar made the difficult decision to demolish the additional apartments themselves.

Self-demolition is the cheaper option, Murad said, adding that if the room were not demolished before the deadline, the Israeli authorities would do it anyway, as well as impose a fine and jail time for his brother Johar……
